The UAE has officially extended the Arab Government Excellence Award for another four years, reaffirming its commitment to advancing government performance across the Arab world. The extension was announced under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during the World Governments Summit (WGS).
The agreement was signed by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and Mohammad Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of WGS. The award, originally launched in May 2019, aims to encourage innovation, institutional excellence, and improved public service delivery within Arab governments.
Encouraging Innovation in the Public Sector
Ahmed Aboul Gheit highlighted the award’s role in motivating governments to adopt innovative and efficient approaches. He noted that it serves as a catalyst for bold decision-making, boosting competitiveness and excellence in government operations.
Mohammad Al Gergawi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to inspire Arab governments to develop best practices and integrate quality performance into their institutions.
“This award represents our joint efforts to encourage distinguished initiatives, projects, and practices in the public sector, celebrating those who transform community services and quality of life into a systematic and sustainable model for development across the Arab world,” said Al Gergawi.
